Il Fiorista, Italian for “The Florist,” is a restaurant, floral boutique, and community education space celebrates the many benefits of flowers and herbs with a deep commitment to sustainability. Italian couple Alessandra and Mario De Benedetti’s goals of sustainability expands to sourcing food locally and regionally, employing water-use reduction systems, and using composting methods to reduce environmental impacts.
The space, featuring colorful flowers and floor-to-ceiling cedar shelving, was designed by award winning architect Elizabeth Roberts and focuses on elements of natural beauty. The Flower Room is a main feature where they offer private events as well as educational classes ranging from bouquet making to edible flowers.
With flowers at the center of the project, different blooms are incorporated in every aspect of the space. Expert mixologist Gates Otsuji crafts a floral-forward drink menu, with signature cocktails including the Drunken Sunflower made with Rye whiskey, toasted sunflower, popcorn shoots and turmeric, and the Sparkle, featuring tequila, flowering coriander, sesame, lime and acacia honey.
Enchanted by blooms and beautiful spaces, this is going to be team SENLIS’s go-to.
